Here are four resilient beach communities making a comeback following the 2024 hurricanes. They are the perfect place to spend a few hours, a full day, or even a weekend enjoying. Tarpon Springs  

Tarpon Springs, known for its Greek heritage, is a must-see. Take time to walk up and down Dodecanese Boulevard to visit shops, restaurants, and enjoy views of the working sponge boats. Make sure to visit these spots:  

- Shop at the Sponge Docks: Many shops have reopened, offering locally harvested sponges and unique coastal gifts—perfect for any occasion  

- Savor authentic Greek cuisine: The Limani, located on the waterside of Dodecanese Boulevard, is one of my favorites. Don’t miss the Feta Fries!  

- Treat yourself to dessert: Hellas Restaurant and Bakery is iconic for its stunning bakery and wide selection of Greek pastries. Their baklava is absolutely divine—don’t skip it!  

- Take to the water with Odyssey Cruises: Their Dolphin Adventure & Island Cruise offers an unforgettable experience. You’ll sail along the Anclote River, stop at Anclote Key to shell, and enjoy a gorgeous sunset  

- Discover the haunted history of Tarpon Springs: Silent Slayers Ghost Tours takes you on a spooky downtown walking tour where you’ll hear eerie tales and try ghost-hunting equipment  

- Wrap up your day at Packard’s Steakhouse and stay overnight at Innisbrook Resort. Just 12 minutes south of Tarpon Springs, Innisbrook’s condo-style accommodations offer comfort with views of world-famous golf courses. Play a round, relax at the spa, or unwind by the pool  

John’s Pass  

John’s Pass has transformed from a quaint fishing village to one of Pinellas County’s top tourist attractions while retaining its authentic Florida charm.  Here’s how to make the most of your next trip:

- Treat yourself: Kilwins on the boardwalk has creamy ice cream, decadent chocolates, and cute gifts—perfect for holiday treats or a sweet snack  

- Crave adventure?: Rent jet skis from Woody’s Water Sports and explore John’s Pass from the water! Cruising under the iconic drawbridge and taking in stunning views was unforgettable  

- Refuel at The Friendly Fisherman: This iconic family-friendly restaurant has been serving fresh catches since 1978! The grouper sandwich and mozzarella bites are a must-try  

- Cap off your day with a Hubbards Marina sunset cruise: Sail into open water as the sun sets, with free beer and wine for 21+. On the return, enjoy views of Boca Ciega Bay  

- End your adventure at Cambria Madeira Beach: This trendy hotel, six minutes north of John’s Pass, offers chic decor, a pool deck with panoramic Gulf views, and marina-view patios in select rooms  

Clearwater Beach
