Go on this Art Deco Walking Tour in Miami!
You’ll never look at Miami Beach the same way thanks to The Official Art Deco Walking Tour by the Miami Design Preservation League!
The Official Art Deco Walking Tour is a great introduction to the architectural styles found on Miami Beach, like Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival, and Miami Modern (MiMo).
The Tour starts at the Art Deco Museum and Welcome Center on Ocean Drive and lasts about two hours.
Time flies by as you walk the colorful streets of South Beach and stop to learn the backstory about beautiful buildings.
There’s plenty of time to stop, take photos, and appreciate the details you would likely otherwise overlook without a guide.
In addition to stops along Ocean Drive, your guide will also take you inside some notable hotels and explain how even the designs on the floor have meaning.
We even learned why the side walks are painted red in South Beach. The original designers wanted to make it feel like people were walking on a red carpet!
Trust me, you’ll walk away from the tour with a whole new appreciation for South Beach architecture!
You can experience the tour for yourself daily at 10:30 am. It’s a good idea to reserve your ticket online ahead of time.
It costs $35 per person. It is $30 for seniors (65 and up), veterans and students.
By the way, the tour goes on rain or shine! Guests are given ponchos if it’s raining.
And, no matter the weather, everyone receives a pair of headphones to clearly hear the tour guide. I loved that detail!
